Sugar Milling Example

Features demonstrated

Shows the use of the Sugar species model and Sugar unit operations:

Brief Project Description

The project shows a simple Sugar Milling train consist of:

  • Sugar Cane Shredder - user can specify and the power usage for this unit
  • Multi stage Sugar Crushing circuit - user can washing, milling and separation parameters for this unit.
  • Sugar juice Screen where specify the separation of mud and fibre
  • Steam turbines, calculating the steam requirement for the shredder and crushing units.

  2. Mud Filter


Brief Project Description

The simple project consist of two stage juice heating prior to clarification of the juice.

The mud from the clarifier is sent to the mud filter to recover some juice.

The Mud filter allow control of the cake POL as well as separate mud cake fibre / mud solids / moisture retention control.

Features demonstrated

Shows the use of the Sugar species model and Sugar unit operations:

  1. Sugar Species Model
  2. Falling Film Evaporator 4


Brief Project Description

The simple project consist of preheater, upto six stages of falling film evaporation, barometric condenser and optional re-flash tanks.

User can enter all configuration information via the EVAP_SETUP general controller, these include:

  • turning effects on/off,
  • area,
  • HTC,
  • Recirculation,
  • heatloss
  • Feed Flowrate
  • Juice out Brix control
  • Preheater temperature and so on.

Please note that this project uses the Falling Film Evaporator 4 unit model instead of the Falling Film Evaporator 3 under the sugar models. The new FFEvaporation 4 unit model can be part of a flash train and thus requires a lot less user control for pressure balance compared to other FFE evaporator models.

Brief Project Description

The simple project consist of one sugar vacuum pan unit. The aim is to demonstrate the use of this unit model.
