General Description
The Flange model is a special "internal" SysCAD model automatically created at the I/O (input/output) connection points between units and pipes. The Flange model has no graphical object and no user-configurable data. A Flange represents the connected shared data between a unit and pipe, e.g. between a unit's QOverflow and a pipe's Qi. A Flange is also created between two Feeder-Cross Page Connector units operating as cross-page connection.
Access to Flanges can be found on the Links tab (Detailed view) of any unit, and in the Connections section of a Pipe (Source and Destination Flange for the pipe). A list of all Flanges can be found in the Explorer Window, separated as:
- Flange (Unit > Unit) (especially for cross-page connection)
- Flange-In (Pipe > Unit)
- Flange-Out (Unit > Pipe)
To handle convergence of a recycle stream, the SysCAD solver can create a Tear block associated with a Flange. See Tear for more information.
Data Sections
The default sections and variable names are described in the following table.
- The first section, which has the same name Flange, contains general information relating to the unit.
- The second section, Qo, displays the material properties for the stream flowing through the flange, including the Sp page, which displays the species makeup of the stream flowing through the flange. A Qi section will also be presented if the Flange has an associated Tear.
- The Info section contains general system information for the unit.
Unit Type: Flange - The first tab page in the access window will have this name.
Tag (Long/Short) | Input / Calc | Description |

SubClass | Flange | The unit is a standard Flange. |
Tear | This Flange has an associated Tear. | |

SourceLink / SrcIO | Display | Available from Build 139.33098. The tag of the flange's source unit, including the I/O connection point (PortID) of that unit. E.g. If the source is a Thickener, this will show whether the pipe is connected to the Overflow or the Underflow. |
DestinationLink / DstIO | Display | Available from Build 139.33098. The tag of flange's destination unit, including the I/O connection point (PortID) of that unit. |
