CO3-2.Perm | Example | The total carbonate is calculated after all carbonate ions are broken down into their constituent parts. This means that the total carbonate is obtained from the sum of CO3-2 ions in solution and the breakdown of HCO3- (where HCO3- breaks down into H+ and CO3-2). Following this, adjustments are made to the acidity or basicity of the solution on both sides of the membrane to ensure charge neutrality. |
