Introduction

This tab page on the Plant Model Access Window has a number of parameters that the user may either set or read for Global settings.

Tag (Long/Short) Input / Calc Description/Calculated Variables / Options
List of Species to report nett flows (shown on Links page):

List

This allows the user to add species for a quick species balance around a unit operation. The results of this will be displayed on a per unit operation basis, on the Links Tab of the access window. This information can be used to create, for example, a water / steam balance.
SpeciesXX / SpXX List X is the number of the selected species. Select the required species from the list. The selected species will be added to the species balance, shown on the Links Table. The default species are H2O(l) and H2O(g). The last row is always blank to allow the user to add more species. To remove a species, choose the “-” option instead of the selected species. As species are added or removed, they are sorted as per the order in the configuration file.
NOTE: If different species in the list have the same Component, then the net flow of the component is also added to the links table to display the overall Nett flow of the species. This is to help identify the use of the species in reactions.
For example, H2O(l) and H2O(g) are added to the list, when viewing the data on the Links tab of any unit model, we will find component H2O is also added to the list. This additional field is useful for showing the nett flow of water, thus helping user identify if H2O is "consumed" or "created" via reactions.
Closure (only available in Build 138 or earlier)
Action
This setting determines when the closure tests are performed.
A closure test is a check for mass and energy balance around a unit model. If this fails then a Condition message is shown.
Off Closure calculation is off. This selection is not recommended.
WhenNotBusy Closure calculations will only be carried out when the solver is not busy, i.e. when the model is paused or stopped.
Continuous Closure calculations are carried out at every iteration/step.
OnCount The user defines at which iterations/steps Closure calculations will be performed, see Count below.
WhenSolved Only available in a steady state project. Closure calculations will only be carried out when the project is solved.
Report
This is used to determine where closure messages will appear in the messages window.
Messages Closure messages will be sent to the Messages tab of the Messages window.
Conditions Closure messages will be sent to the Solver Conditions tab of the Messages window.
Both Closure messages will be sent to the both the Messages and Solver Conditions tabs of the Messages window.
Both - Idle Closure messages will be sent to the both the Messages and Solver Conditions tabs of the Messages window AND SysCAD will go to Idle mode.
Count Input This field is only visible if the user has selected OnCount for Action. This defines the when the Closure calculations are performed.
e.g. if the user chooses 10, then in a steady state project the Closure calculations will be performed at every 10th iteration, or in a dynamic project, at every 10th step.
Heat.Options Off Do not perform any closure heat (energy) calculations. This selection is not recommended.
Hf Perform closure heat (energy) calculations.
Audit (only available in Build 138 or earlier) (also see Audit)
Action
This setting determines when the Audit tests are performed.
Off Audit calculations are off.
WhenNotBusy Audit calculations will only be carried out when the solver is not busy, i.e. when the model is paused or stopped.
Continuous Audit calculations are carried out at every iteration/step.
OnCount The user defines at which iterations/steps Audit calculations will be performed, see Count below.
WhenSolved Only available in a steady state project. Audit calculations will only be carried out when the project is solved.
Count Input This field is only visible if the user has selected OnCount for Action. This defines when the Audit calculations are performed.
e.g. if the user chooses 10, then in a steady state project the Audit calculations will be performed at every 10th iteration, or in a dynamic project, at every 10th step.
Level
This defines the detail displayed on the Audit Tab.
Streams Each unit will have stream information displayed on the Audit tab.
Species Each unit will have stream and species information displayed on the Audit tab.
Flow.Options
This is field is only available in dynamic projects
Off Do not show any audit flow values.
Qm Show mass flows on the audit tab.
Heat.Options Off Do not show any audit heat values.
Hf Show heat values on the audit tab.
Tear Closure (only available in Build 138 or earlier)
Report (Steady State)
In a steady state proejct, this setting determines when the Tear Closure tests are reported.
WhenNotBusy Tear Closure calculations will always be carried out but condition messages for non-converged tears will only be shown when the solver is not busy, i.e. when the model is paused or stopped.
Continuous Condition messages for non-converged tears will be shown at every iteration.
Report (Dynamic)
In a dynamic project, this setting determines where Tear Closure messages will appear in the messages window.
None No Tear Closure messages will be reported in the Messages window.
Messages Tear Closure messages will be sent to the Messages tab of the Messages window.
Conditions

Tear Closure messages will be sent to the Solver Conditions tab of the Messages window.

Both Tear Closure messages will be sent to the both the Messages and Solver Conditions tabs of the Messages window.
Action
This is field is only available in dynamic projects
None No action will be taken if tears are not converged.
Idle SysCAD will go to Idle mode if tears are not converged within a single time step (which may contain multiple iterations).
Accum.Report
This is field is only available in dynamic projects
None No Tear Closure Accumulation messages will be reported in the Messages window.
Messages Tear Closure Accumulation messages will be sent to the Messages tab of the Messages window.
Conditions

Tear Closure Accumulation messages will be sent to the Solver Conditions tab of the Messages window.

Both Tear Closure Accumulation messages will be sent to the both the Messages and Solver Conditions tabs of the Messages window.

Totalisers

(Only visible in Dynamic Transfer mode)

Total.Flow.Options Qm Show Total mass flow only.
Qm,Qv Show Total mass and Total volume flows.
Qm:AllPhases Show mass flows for the Total and for all phases.
Qm,Qv:AllPhases Show mass and volume flows for Total and for all phases.
FirstFlow.Options Off No additional information to be shown when the first flow occurs.
Step Show the step that flow first occurs in the pipe since the model started running.
Time Show the time that flow first occurs in the pipe since the model started running.
Step, Time Show both the step and the time that flow first occurs in the pipe since the model started running.

Default.Area List The default Area Model to which any newly inserted models will belong to by default. This can be changed by the user for each individual model.

Display Configuration

Value.Zero Display The value below which SysCAD will assume zero flow.
Status.ZeroFlow Display The value below which the SysCAD display status will indicate zero flow.
Note: While the display will indicate zero flow, SysCAD will still use the actual values for calculations.
Status.VapourTest Display The value above which the SysCAD display status will indicate vapour flow.
Note: While the display will indicate vapour flow, SysCAD will still display any values for liquids and solids.
Status.SolidsTest Display The value above which the SysCAD display status will indicate solids flow.
Note: While the display will indicate solids flow, SysCAD will still display any values for liquids and vapours.

Old Tag Lookup Management

This refers to the internal renaming of tags due to SysCAD version change. The messages will be displayed to alert users of tag changes, user should manually fix these tags to prevent the messages from appearing in the future. If tags are not changed, SysCAD will attempt to look up a tag rename table to use the new tag. However, some really old tags may no longer work so it is advisable to change the tags to the new syntax as soon as possible.
Tag.ReName.MaxMessages None No Tag rename messages will be displayed.
Limited(1) One Tag rename message can be displayed.
Limited(10) Up to ten Tag rename messages can be displayed.
All All Tag rename messages will be displayed.
