NOTE: The License Commands are only available when SysCAD is open but no projects are loaded.

Introduction

SysCAD is protected by the CrypKey Software Licensing system. The various licensing options and information are explained in the following headings. If SysCAD is not licensed, it will run in the demonstration mode where the SysCAD project size (and some functionality) is limited. For detailed information, see Licensing.

License Location

Command Path License, License Location

This opens the License Location dialog box.

The default location of the license is on the local machine at \SysCADxxx\License\Syscad.exe.

You can use the Browse button or type in the folder location for the license files.

If the license is located on the network:

  • for Drive Share network license: You can tell SysCAD the location of the shared network license folder on the network (which may be a UNC path).
  • for ELM network license: You can tell SysCAD the location of the local folder on your PC that is configured with the license server name. (Do not use network license folder!)

Notes:

  1. If the license folder is changed, user must exit SysCAD and restart SysCAD to use the license files in the new location.
  2. The License Location command is not available if the license location has been forced by using the command line option "/l:" (lower case L for Location) to set the license location. This is usually done when creating multiple shortcuts on the desktop to use license located at different locations.
  3. SysCAD remembers the last license location used, which is stored in the file "SysCAD.Machine.ini" in the \SysCADxxx\BaseFilesUser folder.

  • Press the CopytoClipboard button to copy the site code.
  • Email the Site Code to [email protected] and wait for a Site Key
  • Once the Site Key is obtained, copy and paste the site key into the white box
  • Press Validate

NOTES:

  1. The license is issued at the specified "License location" (shown on the bottom of the dialog box).
    • For network license, the license location is usually different, see Network License
  2. For user that normally use network license, but would like to have a temporary standalone license issued for the local machine for a short period of time, user would need to first change the License location to point to the default license folder (\SysCADxxx\License) OR another folder containing the Licensing Utility.
  3. For user using USB License Key, if the USB license key is valid, then it will be shown on the dialog box.
  4. For user with USB license key, but would like to have a temporary standalone license issued for the local machine for a short period of time, please make sure the USB license key is NOT plugged in when getting the site code and validating the site key. (The SysCAD license code will change if the USB License key is plugged in or removed.)
  5. The Site Key is only used once, the site code will change when a license is issued (and again when a license expires).

See Stand-alone Software License for more information.
