This sections details the Links Table in SysCAD 9.2

Links Table

The Links are displayed as two tables, one for Inputs and one for Outputs.

Inputs Table:

Links
No LinkIn ConnTag Qm Qmt Qv Hf
The link number. The links are numbered from 0. The internal SysCAD Link name. These include autolinks. Flng=Flange; Mkup=Makeup Link Name Or Source Name for autolinks such as Makeups Mass flow through the link.Accumulated mass through this link since the project was restarted. This is only visible in a dynamic project.Volume flow through the link.Total Heat of formation at stream conditions.

Outputs Table:

Links
No LinkOut ConnTag Qm Qmt Qv Hf
The link number. The links are numbered from 0. The internal SysCAD Link name. These include autolinks. Flng=Flange; Spl=Spills; Vnt=Vents Link Name or Destination Area for autolinks such as spills and vents Mass flow through the link.Accumulated mass through this link since the project was restarted. This is only visible in a dynamic project.Volume flow through the link.Total Heat of formation at stream conditions.

Link.Count displays the number of links connected to the unit. (Total for inputs and outputs)
Links.InCount displays the number of input links connected to the unit. (includes auto-links such as Makeup)
Links.PipeInCount displays the number of input pipes connected to the unit. (excludes auto-links)
Links.OutCount displays the number of output links connected to the unit. (includes auto-links such as Vent)
Links.PipeOutCount displays the number of output pipes connected to the unit. (excludes auto-links)
Links.QmIn displays the Total mass in
Links.QmOut displays the Total mass out
The following fields display the mass change for selected species across the unit. In Feeders and Sinks this will be due to adding or removing material, in other units it will be due to reactions. This allows users to produce a mass balance for selected species across either the entire project, or selected areas.
Nett.Qm.H2O(l) displays the mass change of water. This would be 0 if water is not consumed or created. Used to keep track of compound change in reactions & phase change, very useful for creating water/steam balances for the project.
Nett.Qm.H2O(g) displays the mass change of steam. This would be 0 if steam is not consumed or created. Used to keep track of compound change in reactions & phase change, very useful for creating water/steam balances for the project.
Nett.Qm.xxx Other compounds maybe visible here depends on what is defined in the Plant Model - Settings Tab, heading Link Balance Species.

DirectIO Info

These fields appear whenever there is some form of DirectLink connected to the model. Situations such as:

  1. Models with Makeups.
  2. In Dynamic projects for units that have a content (e.g. Tanks) will have slurry spills and vent spills.
  3. In Dynamic projects units or pipes may have spills.

The table below gives an example of a Slurry Spill and Vent Spill:

Tag / Symbol Input/ Calc Description
IO.[Spl]
Area Input The area where any spills will be sent to.
DirectLink Display The tag of the spill direct link.
SrcTag Display The tag of the source unit of the spill direct link, ie. the tank.
DstTag Display The tag of spill direct link's destination unit, ie. the area specified at Area.
Connect Display Provides feedback on if connection is valid.
MassEst / QmEst Calc Estimated mass flow of spill.
Mass / Qm Calc Current mass flow of spill.
Volume / Qv Calc Current volume flow of spill.
NVolume / NQv Calc Current normal volume flow of spill.

IO.[Vnt]
Area Input The area where any vapours vented will be sent to.
DirectLink Display The tag of the vent direct link.
SrcTag Display The tag of the source unit of the vent direct link, ie. the tank.
DstTag Display The tag of vent direct link's destination unit, ie. the area specified at Area.
Connect Display Provides feedback on if connection is valid.
MassEst / QmEst Calc Estimated mass flow of vent.
Mass / Qm Calc Current mass flow of vent.
Volume / Qv Calc Current volume flow of vent.
NVolume / NQv Calc Current normal volume flow of vent.
Similar sets of information will be shown for any other direct links attached to the tank such as makeup blocks.
