Delete Unit/Link

Command Button Image:User Guide image275.jpg

Command Path Graphics, Delete Unit/Link

Short Cut Key Ctrl+D

Note: SysCAD must be in the Edit mode for this command to be accessed.

This allows you to remove units and links from the active Graphics Window. Note that it removes both the mathematical model and the graphics symbol, and you have to save the project for this to be permanent.

The delete unit command opens the delete floating toolbar:

(If this Toolbar is not visible, it may have been saved with the incorrect settings. To recover this toolbar see Recovering a Floating Toolbar in the Frequently Asked Questions section.)

If you wish to delete a single unit / link, or a number of units/ links which are in the same Graphics Window, select the graphics by clicking with the mouse button. The selected units will turn magenta (or any other colour that has been assigned to the Marked Colour box - See Graphics Windows Displaying Colours). If you select a unit incorrectly, click Image:User Guide image278.jpg(cancel button) or press Esc and then try again. Once you are happy with your selection, click Image:User Guide image279.gif(done button) or press Enter to delete. Any links attached to the deleted units will also be deleted.

To delete a group of units, you can use the Image:User Guide image281.jpg(In window) and Image:User Guide image283.jpg(cross window) buttons to draw a box around the selection, the selected items will turn magenta (or any other colour that has been assigned to the Marked Colour box See Graphics Windows Displaying Colours). Press Image:User Guide image270.gifto delete.

Explode Unit/Link

Command Button Image:User Guide image285.jpg

Command Path Graphics, Explode Unit/Link

Note: SysCAD must be in the Edit mode for this command to be accessed.

This command is used to delete a unit's mathematical model without deleting the graphics symbol associated with the unit. The procedure for exploding a unit is the same as deleting a unit.

Zoom

Command Button Image:User Guide image287.jpg

Command Path Graphics, zoom

Short Cut Key Ctrl+M

This is used to zoom around the active Graphics Window. The zoom command opens a floating toolbar:

Image:User Guide image288.gif

(If this Toolbar is not visible, it may have been saved with the incorrect settings. To recover this toolbar see Recovering a Floating Toolbar in the Frequently Asked Questions section.)

Clicking Image:User Guide image279.gif closes the toolbar.

The next four buttons allow you to move around the Graphics Window, left, right, up or down respectively. The magnification of the drawing is not changed.

The next two buttons increase (zoom in) or decrease (zoom out) your view of the drawing. The All icon zooms to fit the drawing on the Graphics Window.

To view a portion of the drawing, with the zoom toolbar opened, drag a selection box on the Graphics Window with the left mouse button. To return to the overall drawing, either click on the All icon, or click once on the Graphics Window.

Redraw

Command Button Image:User Guide image290.jpg

Command Path Graphics, Redraw

Short Cut Key Ctrl+B

The command refreshes the drawing on the Graphics Window.

Isometric

Command Path Graphics, Isometric

This command is only relevant for drawings with three dimensional spatial co-ordinates. This command zooms the graphics to an isometric view.

Insert Group

Command Button: Image:User Guide image292.jpg

Command Path Graphics, Insert Group

NEW feature introduced in SysCAD 9.1

This command inserts a group of SysCAD models which has been saved using the Create Group command.

After a group of models has been saved to the neutral database, it can be inserted into any projects that have access to the basebase.

To insert a group, click on the graphics window and then select the Insert Group command. This will open the Insert Group dialog box.

For Example:

Image:User Guide image293.gif

In the above example, some key features are highlighted. There are a few main points to note here:

  1. The model information is retrieved from a neutral database.
  2. In the Create Group section example, we have assigned the Group with Alumina:Digestion. When this is done, we have created a Group called Alumina, with a sub folder called Digestion. In practice, user can then save other flowsheets in the same manner, eg, Alumina:Washers etc.
  3. Find and replace tags - this is optional, but should be used if the copied group is to be inserted into the same project to avoid duplicate tag names. In the above example, we have asked to Add Suffix to all the tags.
  4. The Current Status line will display any duplicate tag errors if any. You will not be allowed to proceed if duplicate tag is found. In that case, press the reset button and start again.
  5. Once all the options have been specified and the current status displays Ready to insert at Dig Pt, move the mouse cursor over to the graphics window and LEFT click to insert.
  6. Once the models are inserted, press Done to close the dialog box.

Create Group

Command Button: Image:User Guide image295.jpg

Command Path Graphics, Create Group

NEW feature introduced in SysCAD 9.1

This command allows the user to choose selected groups of SysCAD models and save them in a neutral database. Once the group of models is saved, they can be inserted onto any graphics windows (can be a different project as well). This is a easy way to create multiple flowsheets that contain the same layout of models. Furthermore, the create group function enables the user to change model tags using some tag rules. With this feature, user can rename models easier if the models follow some logical tag naming rules.

To create a group, open a project that contains a graphics page with the required models for copying and then choose Create Group. This will bring up the floating save Group tool bar and the mouse pointer will change to read ORIGIN:

Image:User Guide image296.gif

Select the original by right clicking once on the appropriate position. Note this will mark the bottom left hand corner of the group when the models are inserted later using the Insert Group function.

Once the origin is selected, the mouse pointer will change to read NODE. User can select the required models one at a time buy LEFT clicking on them or use the cross-window or in-window buttons on the Save Group tool bar. When all the models have been selected, press the tick button on the floating tool bar to confirm. This will now open a Create Group Dialog box.

For example:

Image:User Guide image297.gif

In the above example, some key features are highlighted. There are a few main points to note here:

  1. The model information will be stored in a neutral database.
  2. The description field must have an entry
  3. The Groups field allows user to assign the copied models to a group. The syntax to use here is Group:Name. See example on Insert Group section for the resulting view.
  4. Find and replace tags - this is optional, but should be used if the copied group is to be inserted into the same project to avoid duplicate tag names. In the above example, we have asked to find tags that Starts with FT_. The Start Tag is marked by "^". You can also ask to find End Tag, just click on the ... button to the right of the field to get the options. If you have made a mistake, press the Reset button to start again. Note that it will reset all the tags and not just the last replace.
  5. The Current Status line will display any duplicate tag errors if any. You will not be allowed to proceed if duplicate tag is found. In that case, press the reset button and start again.
  6. Once all the options have been specified and the current status displays Ready, press OK to proceed with the export of data to the database.
