This section shows the Edit Commands in SysCAD 9.1. Refer to Edit Commands in 9.2 for SysCAD 9.2.

Project Settings

NOTE: In SysCAD 9.1, the project solve mode can only be changed when the project is closed.

When this function is selected, user is asked to select the project, and then the Edit Project Settings Dialogue box will open.

This dialogue box contains the following tab pages:

  • Network Solution - The simulation mode can be set from this tab page. Use Process Balance (ProBal) for steady state simulation or Dynamic for dynamic simulation.

Project Configuration

Command Path Edit, Project Configuration

This command will bring up the Project Configuration Dialog box. Related topic: Models Configuration (.cfg File).


WARNING

This function is only available prior to loading of the SysCAD project. That is, if a configuration file needs to be edited, the user must close the SysCAD project using File | Close Project.

Species Database

This function is only available if a SysCAD project is opened. When the command is activated, it searches for the SysCAD.mdb file in the \SysCAD91\project group\cfgfiles folder, and opens the following dialog box:

Press Open to edit the database.

Default Database

When the command is activated, it searches for the default.mdb file in the \SysCAD91\cfgfiles folder, and opens the Open SysCAD Database dialog box. Press Open to edit the database.

Change Tag

Command Path Edit, Change Tag

This allows you to change the unit model's tag name. A dialog box will be shown.

The old tag must exist and the new tag must be valid. It cannot contain spaces, tabs or dots. Press OK to change the tag. The tag will be changed in the model and any other places it is referred to such as trends within SysCAD.

The Change Tag option can also be access by Right mouse click on Graphics Window Background or from the Access Window, see Accessing Data Fields.

Bulk Change Tag

Command Path Edit, Bulk Change Tag, or use the Explorer Window

This allows you to change multiple unit models' tag names. A dialog box will be shown and the functions of the dialog box will be:

  1. This section shows the list of tags in the project, the Classes and Pages columns can be show/hidden by ticking the boxes under View (D)
  2. The Current Column lists the current tags in the project, the Replacement Column shows the NEW tag names, the new tag names can be changed in a few ways:
    1. manually by double clicking on the tag name on the replacement column and typing it in;
    2. by using the Replacement function (E) and press Replace or
    3. Using Import (F).
    The Status column will show the status of the tags. For example, in the dialog box above, user has requested to change tag all tags which contain P_1 to S0, this is marked by <- on the Status column. If the requested change is to a tag which already exists, then SysCAD marks the Tag with a Duplicate Status. When this happens, the Tag change is not allow to proceed and user will find the Apply button (H) greyed out.
  3. This section lets the user to select what unit models are shown on section (A).
  4. This section lets the user to select which graphics pages are shown on section (A).
  5. This group contains various filters the user can apply to quickly find the relevant tags to be changed.
  6. This section lets the user change multiple number of tags based on some rules. NOTE the Replace button will act as a request to change tags only, it doesn't actually change the tags in the database. After the Replace button is pressed, SysCAD will do a check on the tag change requests and fill in the status column, tags ok to change will be marked with <- and duplicate tags will be marked x Duplicate/s. User can elect to undo the change requests by pressing the Undo button and try again or change the duplicate ones manually. Once all errors are fixed, the Apply Button on Section (H) will become available.
  7. User can highlight a group of tags on Section (A) and press Export to put the information on the clipboard. This information can then be pasted into applications such as Excel if user is more comfortable with changing tags in Excel. The Import button will work in reverse, user can have a group of tags changed and imported back in to apply the tag changes. NOTE when importing, make sure that the column headings are part of the group selected and copied onto the clipboard.
  8. For Example:
    1. Press Ctrl and select a group of tags on Section (A) and Press Export
    2. Open Excel and paste the data
    3. ClassId CurrentTag ReplacementTag Pages

    6. Highlight the tags in Excel including Headings and copy the data
    7. Activate SysCAD and press Import.

  9. This section gives feedback information on what has happened.
  10. The APPLY button will only become available if tag change requests are present with no duplicate tags. Once the user pressed the APPLY button, SysCAD tags will be changed. NOTE there is NO undo option after the tag changes are applied. User can only return to previous version of the tags by exiting (and not saving) the project.
  11. To close the dialog box, press Done.

Find Tag

Short Cut Key Ctrl+F

This command is used to locate a unit on the Graphics Window or finding a trend line on a Trend Window.

It opens a Find Tag window listing all available tags in the project:

User may find the tags either by clicking on the unit operation names from the list or by using the "filter" to search tags.

  1. As user clicks tag on the FindTags List, SysCAD finds the graphics, selects the unit, shows the temporary cross cursor but does NOT move the mouse cursor. The FindTags List remains open.
  2. If user clicks the "Go To" button while a tag is highlighted, SysCAD finds the graphics, selects the unit, shows the temporary cross cursor and moves the mouse cursor. The FindTags List will close.
  3. If the user clicks on the "Access" button while a tag is highlighted, SysCAD finds the graphics, selects the unit, shows the temporary cross cursor and display its Access Window. The FindTags List will close.
  4. If the SysCAD tag is trended on Trend windows, a list of where the tag can be found will be displayed:

For example, user can click on the Trend_1.trn:SL11.Qm (t/h) to find the tag on the trend window as shown in the above image.

Find Next

Command Path Edit, Find Next

Short Cut Key F3

This command is used to find tags in the Trend Window. Once an occurrence of a trended tag has been found using the Find Tag command, other occurrences of the tag can be found using the Find Next command. Press F3 to find the next occurrence of the tag in a Trend Window. If a tag is found, the Trend Window in which it resides will become the active window and a message will appear on the Message Window telling the user a tag has been found. If no more occurrences exist, SysCAD will display an error message.

Data Transfer

Command Path Edit, Data Transfer...

Alternatively, from the Access Window, Options - Data Transfer.

This option allows unit model configuration data to be

  • Transferred between unit models of the same type within the same project.
  • Saved to a block - text file.
  • Transferred from a pre-saved block to unit models.


Copy from Unit to Unit

Choose the Model Type required from the Model Type pull down List.

Make the selection in the middle section of the Data Transfer Dialog box as follows:

This will allow you to copy from a selected unit to another unit of the same model type within the current project.

The Source: Selected Unit pull down list contains all units of the chosen model type currently in the project. Choose the unit to copy from. Select what to copy from the list on the left-hand side by clicking on them. The selected tag/tags will have a blue tick next to it. To select everything on the list, click on the all button next to the Source: Selected Unit pull down list. On the Destination: Other Units List, select destination unit(s) by highlighting them. You can select multiple units by holding down <shift> / <Ctrl> key while clicking with the mouse button, or simply drag the mouse pointer to highlight a group of units. The More button on the top right-hand corner opens the previewing pane for the copied fields. Once this is pressed, the button changes to the Less button. Use this to close the previewing pane.

Once the source and destination information are selected, the Transfer button will become active, press this button to complete the transfer.


NOTE: When SysCAD is busy transferring data, the mouse cursor will change into the hourglass icon. When the mouse pointer returns to normal, the data transfer is complete. A message will appear in the Message Window informing the completion of data transfer.


Please note that only configuration fields can be copied, i.e. white data fields. Any calculated or derived information is ignored when data is transferred.

Press the Done button to close the Data Transfer dialog box when finished.


Copy from Unit to Block

The unit data can be copied from a selected unit to a block - text file for further use. (Stored in ../SysCAD/project group/cfgfiles/SCD_CBk.ini in SysCAD 9.1 or ../SysCAD/project group/cfgfiles/CopyBlockData.ini in SysCAD 9.2)

Choose the Model Type required from the Model Type pull down List.

Make the selection in the middle section of the Data Transfer Dialog box as follows:

On the left hand side of the dialog box:

The Source: Selected Unit pull down list contains all units of the chosen model type currently in the project. Choose the unit to copy from. Select what to copy from the list on the left-hand side by clicking on them. The selected tag/tags will have a blue tick next to it. To select everything on the list, click on the all button next to the Source: Selected Unit pull down list. On the right hand side of the dialog box:

Press New if you want to save to the data to a new block name.

Type in a name for the block, eg, Feed1 and click OK. The More button on the top right-hand corner opens the previewing pane for the copied fields. Once this is pressed, the button changes to the Less button. Use this to close the previewing pane.

When all the required selections are made, press Transfer to complete the copy of data. When SysCAD is busy with data transfer, the cursor will change into the Hourglass symbol, when it is finished, the cursor will return to normal. A message will also appear in the Message Window.

Press Done to close the Data Transfer dialog box.

Copy from Block to Unit

Unit data can be copied from a data block to a selected unit. (Data saved in ../SysCAD/project group/cfgfiles/SCD_CBk.ini)

Choose the Model Type required from the Model Type pull down List.

Make the selection in the middle section of the Data Transfer Dialog box as follows:

On the left-hand side of the dialog box: Select the data block to copy from by highlighting it.

On the right-hand side of the dialog box: select destination unit(s) by highlighting them. You can select multiple units by holding down <shift> / <Ctrl> key while clicking with the mouse button, or simply drag the mouse pointer to highlight a group of units.

The More button on the top right-hand corner opens the previewing pane for the copied fields. Once this is pressed, the button changes to the Less button. Use this to close the previewing pane. The preview pane will not be able to display any data for this option.

When all the required selections are made, press Transfer to complete the copy of data. When SysCAD is busy with data transfer, the cursor will change into the Hourglass symbol, when it is finished, the cursor will return to normal. A message will also appear in the Message Window.

Press Done to close the Data Transfer dialog box.
